“In addition to the text books, each pupil will need pencils and tablets amounting to about fifteen cents, depending on the grade. Pens and ink are supplied free as are also about one third of the books. The following list is only those that the pupil must buy. Parents and pupils should study the list carefully and if they do not have the books send the amount with the pupil next Tuesday morning so that pupils may get at work promptly. Every child should come prepared to do a full days work Tuesday and if they do not come they will be behind just that much and will likely be sent home for needed material. The schools are already organized and no time need to be lost in starting.”

First Grade – No books will be needed in this grade for about nine weeks, then New Education Reader, Book One costing 29 cents.

Second Grade – New Education Reader, Book Three costing 33 cents.

Third Grade – New Education Reader, Book Four costing 37 cents. Elementary Arithmetic, 29 cents.

Grade Four – First Geography, 53 cents. Elementary Arithmetic, 29 cents. Guide to English, Book One, 87 cents.

Grade Five – Same as Grade Four and Fifth Language Reader, 37 cents World Studies, 20 cents. Common School Dictionary, 60 cents.

Grade Six – Complete Arithmetic, 50 cents. Second Geography, 90 cents. English, Book Two, 50 cents. Word Study, 20 cents. Common School Dictionary, 60 cents.

Grade Seven – Same as Grade Six.

Grade Eight – Same as Grade Seven with Montgomery’s History, 83 cents. Southworth Goddard Grammar, 50 cents instead of English, Book Two.

“In Writing this year instead of the two copy books, one book or pa costing 12 cents will be used in each grade.

“In High School the cost for each year when all books are bought is about $3 to each pupil should come with about that amount to get their books next Tuesday morning.

“All pupils who have moved here and are starting this fall should not purchase books till they have been assigned their grade.”
