The Calvin & Lucy (Tate) Vaughn home is located on Second Street, west side, just south of Broad. Although the tax records cite this house as being built in 1900 it was actually built prior to 1870 by Weidner. This home was the most photographed in earlier Cuyahoga Falls times. The beautiful old mansion contains wood beam ceilings throughout the ground floor and two fireplaces. The home contains 13 rooms including five bedrooms and five full baths. A rock and sandstone foundation holds up the wood frame home with slate roofing. CWVAUGHN on second

  1. I lived in this beautiful home from 1944 thru 1950. Jane Powell, my Aunt, was an interior decorator in the Akron, an instructor a Akron U and an earlier women’s hat designer/maker. The entrance vestibule opened into a view of the second story stair case of carvings in wood and view of the stained glass window on the intermediate landing. I’m 85 and remember this home as it was cured glass windows in the “tower”, seven rooms in the basement, leaded galas windows, carriage potico etc.

  2. I have a very nice painted vase with Lucy Vaughn 1909(or 1904)hand signed on bottom. Could this be the same Lucy Vaughn? Was she a art student.

  3. I worked for Gordon Calvin Vaughn at the Vaughn Machinery Company site in Cleckheaton, England from 1965 until it was sold in 1970. I contacted the Cuyahoga Falls site on a daily basis and would like to have more history and any memories that anyone might have of these times . I was then called Hilary Gardner.
