- In 1825 Manchester was made up of four townships – Stow, Tallmadge, Portage, and Northampton.
- In 1826 Henry Newberry changed the name of Manchester to Cuyahoga Falls.
- Cuyahoga Falls was incorporated by act of legislature on March 5, 1836.
- It became a township on March 5, 1851.
- The first election was held April 7, 1851 at the first recorded council meeting.
- The first official act was to enter agreement, at $35 a year, “to rent a room over the post office in the insurance building for council meetings.”
