Steve Steinmetz built a horse racing track in Northampton on the old Harrington farm in 1923. It was called Northampton Track. He sold the operation and the new owners changed the name to Ascot Park.
Ascot Park was promoted as one of America’s most beautiful three-quarter mile racetracks. It was the site of a 43-day thoroughbred meet each summer.
In 1944 admission was just 25 cents. Large and more prestigious tracks elsewhere began to attract patrons. In 1968, with the track in a state of disrepair, the racetrack was demolished.

Ascot park always raced in the spring. Usually from late March or early April for a 44 day meet. Thistledown in Warrensville Heights Ohio followed or Randall Park in North Randall Ohio some years.
