Do you remember what Front Street looked like in 1968? Here is a photo taken standing on Front Street, looking southward. You can see the Vaughn tower in the background that was located at Front and Broad.
I do remember. I always loved downtown. The stores and shops. In retrospect I think we made a mistake by making downtown a plaza. I don’t remember the plaza environment being a people friendly place. Granted the malls took the retail away. It’s a great summer venue. A good place for non-retail business. But as an inviting place to go, that ceased a long time ago. There’s a lot to be said for a simpler time.
