“Barney’s Busy Corners” was named after Jack D. “Barney” Barnes, a friendly man who operated a grocery in Cuyahoga Falls. Barney’s grocery faced Tallmadge Road and by today’s standards was very small with narrow isles and an old-time butcher shop.
In the 1950s Barney’s new multistory building housed a Sohio service station located on the corner along with a barbershop and a beauty salon, all on the lower level facing Bailey Road. Over the years there were other businesses housed in the building but all are long gone.
This is wonderful history
