Black Men in Blue: The Civil War, Ohioans, and the United States Colored Troops – will be the topic of the Wednesday June 11th meeting of the Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society at 7 p.m. at the Cuyahoga Falls Library, 2015 Third St.

The speaker for the event will be Dr. Kelly D. Selby, an assistant professor at Walsh University, where she teaches U.S., Civil War, and Women’s history.

The presentation will focus on the Ohio black community’s response to the national conflict, the wartime participation of free black men, and the impact of their service on white Ohioans. Special attention is given to the 5th and 27th USCT.

The meeting, which will be held in the Sutliff meeting room in the library’s lower level, is free and open to the public. See you there!
